Early Childhood Education and Care - the ECEC Network
The field of Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) experiences increased interest from politicians, practitioners, researchers and parents around the world. Ethics points to ECEC as a crucial point of investment in order to secure equal opportunities for children to achieve in life, but also socioeconomic research has proven ECEC as a crucial point of investment.
The ECEC network is basically a platform for getting in touch with other people working with ECEC-matters. Our interests and motives in dealing with ECEC varies, but we all seek to ensure quality-performances within ECEC.
Our countries follow different paths in developing ECEC, and it gives us a unique opportunity to share experiences and learn from each other in relation to:
- Political initiatives and development strategies in our countries
- The use of data achieved from research, evaluations and other assessment tools
- How children are or can be given a voice in ECEC-development
- Educational structures and successful supplementary training of ECEC-professionals (e.g. the use of peer-support, research circles etc.)
The above mentioned themes form the mainframe of the discussions during our scheduled network meeting at ICSEI 2011, but we'll also investigate opportunities for collaborating on proposals to be presented at ICSEI 2012 in Sweden, and collect suggestions for key note speakers at the 2012 congress.
The network will also be meeting during lunch at a table marked ECEC-network. Everybody interested in ECEC shall be very welcome to join our meetings!
