John MacBeath - President

John MacBeath is the Chair of Educational Leadership at the University of Cambridge and until 2000 was Director of the Quality in Education Centre at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. From 1997 to 2001 he was a member of the Government’s Task Force on Standards and from 1997 to 1999 Scotland’s Action Group Standards. Other consultancies have included OECD, UNESCO and ILO (International Labour Organisation), the Bertelsmann Foundation and the European Commission on a school self-evaluation and European indicators. He is a consultant to the Hong Kong on self evaluation and inspection and is Chair of the Hong Kong based International Network for Educational Improvement.

He is currently Director of Leadership for Learning: the Cambridge Network and the Wallenberg Centre. He has written widely on school self-evaluation, school improvement and school leadership including the following books:
