KEYNOTE 1: Jim Spillane
James Spillane's work explores the policy implementation process at the state, school district, school and classroom levels. He has worked to develop a cognitive perspective on the implementation process, exploring how local policy-makers, both administrators and teachers, come to understand state and national reforms. Spillane is also interested in organizational leadership and change; his work conceptualizes organizational leadership as a distributed practice involving formal and informal leaders, followers and a variety of organizational tools and artifacts. His most recent projects include a social network analysis of mathematics advice structures in elementary schools, an evaluation of how kernel organizational routines can develop leadership practice and improve student achievement in schools, and an examination of the preparation, recruitment, and retention of school principals.
KEYNOTE 2: Suyanto
Prof. Suyanto, Ph.D, born in 1953, finished his Master's degree at School of Education, Boston University, USA, in 1981, supported by Fulbright, specializing on Social Studies Education. After completing his Master's he resumed his former position as a Faculty member in Yogyakarta State University (YSU), Yogyakarta Indonesia. In 1983 he went back to The USA to pursue his Ph.D degree in College of Education, Michigan State University majoring in Social Studies Curriculum and Instruction. After finishing his Ph.D (1986) he rejoined again as Faculty member in Graduate School of YSU. In 1999, he elected Rector of YSU. After completing the half term of his second assignment as the Rector of YSU, in 2005, he joined in The Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia as Director General for Management of Primary and Secondary Education (2005-2009) responsible for managing 150.000 primary and secondary schools with 50 million students. After restructuring the Ministry in 2009, he was posted in new position as Director General of Basic Education in the Ministry of National Education and Culture (2009 up to now). Along his career, he also presented many position papers in many seminars and workshops throughout the Country on education matters and issues.
KEYNOTE 3: Karen Seashore
Karen Seashore is currently Director of undergraduate studies. She earned her Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1975 majoring in sociology though her B.A. was in history. Her areas of interest include Organizational theory, Planned change, Schools and universities as workplaces, Leadership and administration. Karen Seashore's primary research interests focus on school improvement and school reform, although she does some teaching and advising in all areas of educational policy and administration. Her main area of expertise includes improvement in K-12 leadership and policy over the last 30 years, particularly in urban secondary schools. She also conducts research on organizational changes within higher education, with particular attention to faculty roles, and on international comparative policy in educational reform. Her interest in evaluation is a long-standing, and has emphasized in the assessment of large-scale educational programs and policies. As a sociologist, she tends to look at educational reform through the lens of organizational theory, with an emphasis on the interaction between culture and structure.
KEYNOTE 4: Jill Jameson
Jill Jameson is a Professor of Education; Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), Fellow of the Institute for Learning (FIfL) and Director of the Centre for Leadership and Enterprise, including Educational Leadership and Management, at the University of Greenwich, London. Jill has 25 years experience of senior management and 36 years experience in education as a teacher, researcher, doctoral supervisor, governor and coach. Chair of the Society for Research into Higher Education, Jill is also Co-Convenor of BERA?s New Technologies Research Group and Lead Guest Editor, British Journal of Educational Technology (BJET) Special Issue on e-Leadership (ISI Journal Ranking: 2011: 12/206 (Education & Educational Research). Jill was Winner of the 2011 Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Leadership Award and Finalist for CMI?s ?Outstanding Leadership? Award. Jill was recently (May, 2013) invited by the University of Oxford to deliver an Oxford Learning Institute Public Lecture on her work on 'Negative Capability, Values-Based Leadership and Trust: Managing Uncertainty in English Higher Education'. She has a particular interest in the convergence of research concepts and professional practice relating to the building of trust and effective leadership in education, aligned with the development of educational technology..
